Newcastle Flyers Virtual Runs
Flyers Virtual Runs are designed to provide a fun way to share training runs on popular Strava segments with other members of the Newcastle Flyers running club.
Strava Segment:
Beach 2 Breakwall |
Ultra Trail Flyers (UTF)
Strava Segment:
All steps from the beach to the windsock: Witch 128 |
IMPORTANT: NEWCASTLE FLYERS VIRTUAL RUN DISCLAIMER
As Newcastle Flyers Virtual Runs (NFVRs) are held on public paths, the golden rule of shared paths is that runners should make every effort to avoid making contact with other users of the path. In general, try to stick to the left and overtake on the right. Be courteous and respectful to others.
Members participating in an NFVR agree (on their own behalf, and on behalf of their heirs, executors and administrators), to the extent permitted by law, to waive release and discharge the Newcastle Flyers from all and every claim/right/cause of action which members may have, or which may arise out of injury, death and/or damage or loss of any description which may be sustained as the result of, or in connection with, participation in an NFVR.
This release is ongoing with regard to any future actions, claims, demands, suits or legal proceedings.
In addition, we recommend that members arrange their own personal accident insurance, ambulance cover and income protection insurance before participating in an NFVR due to the real, but hopefully unlikely, event of injury/accident while participating in an NFVR.

SAFETY
- Join the Newcastle Flyers Strava Club - www.strava.com/clubs/25174
- Complete any or all of the events during the race window for each event
- Upload your activity to Strava BEFORE the event cut-off time - Midnight
- Name your activity with the name of the Virtual Run included anywhere in the title (e.g. Beach2Breakwall, Flyers:10, Witch 20)
- Make sure your activity can be seen by ‘Everyone’ in the settings. Also, check your ‘Profile Page’ Strava privacy settings. If it is set to ‘Followers’ and you plan to run, please ensure you let the race organiser (Paul Murray) know prior to running so your result can be located manually.
RESULTS
- Results will be sourced from the Flyers Strava group and Strava Segments and posted to the Flyers Facebook page soon after the event closes.
SAFETY
- Witch10 and Witch20 runners MUST carry a mobile phone with sufficient battery for the duration of the race so that you can call for help if you become lost or injured.
- Runs must follow all current social distancing restrictions.
- Course(s) will NOT be closed to members of the public INCLUDING MOUNTAIN BIKERS meaning that social distancing may become more difficult during the day. It is recommended that runs are completed as early as possible IN DAYLIGHT HOURS to improve the chances of a clear run.
- If you need to pass someone on course and there is not a 1.5-meter gap, then you should not pass until it is safe to do so.
- There will be NO aid stations with water or nutrition on course. Bring your own nutrition and hydration to get you through the event.
